Villa was beautiful and we loved the area – quiet yet easy to get to the shops, beach and restaurants. Lots of choices of where to eat. Lots to do. We LOVED the pool – lovely temperature – couldn’t get the kids out! Same for the beach, the kids loved the waves although a little choppy for beginners to learn to surf – we will next time! Channa was great – helped us get Tuk-Tuks and provisions. We fell in love with the little dog that lives outside the gate and hope she stays safe All in all a lovely experience and we would love to go back.

What an amazing place . It’s just like a little slice of Paradise. The accommodation is stunning as are the views and the tranquil sounds . Channa was fantastic & the meal his wife prepared was delicious. I recommend anyone who is thinking of going , to book it ! I can guarantee you will not be disappointed Just glorious x

This was our second stay at the Phoenix Retreat and we hope to go again some time in the future! I can't recommend it enough – my only regret was not staying longer. We travelled around Sri Lanka and spent the last days of the holiday here relaxing in the pool and visiting local towns and beaches. It would be easy to find lots to do for the full duration of a holiday – and it couldn't be easier as Upul was on hand to arrange tuc tucs and a lovely air conditioned van for short or long trips. His local knowledge meant we could go to the best places. Chana and his wife Dinusha cooked the most amazing food when we didn't want to cook or eat out – incredible Sri-Lankan Curries! We took the rowing boat out on the lagoon at sunset and saw lots of wildlife – even monkeys passing through the garden tree-tops. This is a real paradise.

We had such a wonderful time and are already talking about coming back. The villa was just as shown- it was secluded without being remote. Lounging at the pool while watching the sunset over the lake was magical. The house is spacious and airy. The kitchen has everything you could need if you want to ever self cater. It was also exceptionally safe and was just such a relaxing place to be. Channa, the housekeeper, was amazing. He was always available without ever being in the way. He was so thoughtful and helpful. It was such a relief not to have to think about anything. He had so many connections – recommending a fabulous art store and setting us up with a safari for instance. Channa and his wife (who is an absolute delight) would cook us the most delicious meals. His father, who is a true gem, would take us on small excursions and would recommend places to visit.

We had a very relaxing time at the Retreat. The property is well located and offers easy access (10 mins car) to Hikkaduwa beach. It’s a spacious property perfect for a family, and the garden and pool are amazing. Plenty of bird watching to be done. Channa the care taker was very helpful and went out of the way to make our stay enjoyable. We will be recommending this place to our friends.

Amazing house which was perfect for our family of 5. The rooms were spacious, the property was stunning, and the staff were so kind and helpful. We loved the pool and sitting out on the dock watching the sunset and the birds. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and hope to return soon! Thanks for everything.

We had the most amazing stay at The Retreat. A fabulous villa in a very tranquil setting at the edge of the lagoon. A large pool provided hours of fun, superbly looked after by Neel and pyrantha, who also cooked for us on occasion if we wanted. Neel is an amazing chef and his food was a real insight to Sri Lankan cooking. What a treat. 😀 Superking beds in all 3 bedrooms, exceptionally comfortable – couldn’t ask for more. Trips to the beach and excursions arranged via Sanjee and his team of tuk tuk, always in time and very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

The Retreat is a sanctuary set on the magical blue lagoon. It is so peaceful and quiet there – it was the perfect getaway for a group of friends. Sunitha and Prem are amazing house keepers who look after the property with such care and love.

The most amazing holiday! Our family of 7 spent Christmas 2019 at The Retreat. A total of 9 nights. We had a child, teenager, young adults and older adults and every single one of us loved every minute of our holiday. It is officially my favourite place I have been. We are from Glasgow but stay in Dubai. We were overwhelmed by the care and hospitality of Preme and Sunitha. They both stay next door and are available at all time of the stay. Sunith's cooking was incredible and better than any restaurant. They looked after the house incredibly. On Christmas day, they decorated our dinning table, which was just so thoughtful and appreciated. Hikkaduwa is just a short tuk tuk ride away and Channa and the team are amazing! They give you a phone at the beginning of the holiday and no matter when and where you need them, they will be there. The Retreat is truly like paradise and it is the most relaxing and beautiful place. The little added touches, like the book and DVD case which was full of amazing chooses. For the first time on holiday, I was not ready to go home. We all think about Hikkaduwa regularly and can't wait to be back. Everyone is just so friendly and kind. I truly fell in love with the place and The Retreat. We will be back soon!

The Villa is huge and sparkling clean! The crew taking care of the place are amazing people super helpful and cooked amazing food of what ever we wished for. Don’t miss this place! Even better then discribed
